Exercise 1:
After reading my entire blog a couple of times over I would have to say I have gain a new found respect for my weaknesses and how to deal with them. My opinion and fears about people in general has gotten a little better, and hopefully it would continue to get better has time goes on.
Exercise 2: I would say I have learn to ask people for help, instead of trying to do things on my own.
Exercise 3:
Has I already stated in exercise 1, I have learn to identify my weakness and deal with them in order to become a better person, also my fears and opinion of people have gotten better. Overall I am really amazed at how I am able to related to the topics covered in the class, and I was really astonished at how the books for the classes were able to talk and clarify some of the questions that I have had for quite some time. I can't wait to actually reread all of them again over the summer so that I can have time to reflect on each book. Even though I am already an optimistic person, but kinda of lost regarding my future, I have a clearer view of my future now and what I am going to have to do to achieve my goals. The activities or behavior that I started to do is talking to people about my goals and asking them for help and also help others that might need my help too.
4. 3 things I liked best about this class would have to be the required books for the class, getting to be in a group and help each other out and the professor and TAs.
5. 3 things I don't like about the class would have to be the quizzes, repeating my goals over and over again to people, and.........ummmm that's all I got for now.
6. I really don't have any suggestions as to ways to improve the class, because the class style and structure is fine to me.

Assignment #13: Work the plan
Exercise 1:
One of my first steps is to study for my classes that are required to graduate, and I already started studying for two of the classes because finals are approaching really soon and there are a lot of material that are going to be covered on the finals for both classes.
Exercise 2:
The weekly business this week was over the phone with the same good friend of mine from last week, weekly business meeting. We went over last week, weekly business objects to see if we accomplished them or not. Overall I was able to get all the things that I said I was going to accomplished done, with some motivational nagging from my business buddy. For this week I don't really have a lot that I have to do, except study a lot since I have been procrastinating a lot lately, and read the required chapters for leadership. After my propositions my buddy is going to call during the middle of the week to see if I am on top of my studies.
Exercise 3:
This exercise is kinda of tough for me, because I am not much of a planner and I really dislike planning stuff, even if I was to plan my day out I could only plan ahead a day or two maximum. I could go into why I don't like planning things ahead or what not, but that might take ages to explain. I am more of a go with the flow of the day or moment kinda of person. But since I must (cringe) I will try my best. For this coming week:
Monday: Meet with a buddy in the morning to study for embryology lab.
go to class
more studying
Tuesday: Go class
try to go workout
do laundry
Wednesday: Go to class
Read
see where the day takes me.
Thursday: Go to class

Assignment #12: The buddy System
Exercise #1: First steps
One of the goals that I had on my planing wall is to graduate with a bachelors degree, which I am going to accomplish next month. But in other to accomplish this goal I have to finish all the required classes for the degree. In other to finish all the classes I have to do all the homework for each classes and pass all the test given in each class. So this week I am a step closer to achieving my wall plan goal, which to graduate next month. By finish a 12 page term paper for one of the required classes. I also just learned that I got an A for another class..... YEAAAAAAA BOIIIIIIIIIII! For the rest of the required classes I already started studying for the upcoming test required to pass and get good grades in all of them so that I could graduate this May.
Exercise #2: The Buddy System
1. My buddy for the buddy system is one of my good friend A. I picked this buddy of mine because our academic goals and plans to achieve them are sort of the same and we bounce ideas off each other when we have problems or questions.
2. The meeting was Monday around 3:30pm, because we were getting together with two of my other buddies to discuss the lease process to our spanking new apartment... but yea back to business.
We decide to meet every Monday around the same time, since it seems we both are free around that time for about 30 minutes until we graduate so we discuss:
- How the lease and the move in date for our SPANKING new apartment is going.
- How we are going to divide housework for all four of us living in the apartment.
- Work on resumes for getting jobs and start making some $$$$.
- If there are any activities going on campus for the coming weekend.
- What time in the summer we will start studying for graduate school entrance exams, me=PCAT A.=MCAT.
- Set another time during the week to help each other with class homework that we might be having problem with.
The whole meeting lasted about 20 minutes.

Assignment # 11
Exercise #1: First step
One of the next steps toward my goal is to graduate with a bachelors degree, which I will accomplish this May. So there isn't a lot to blog about except that I am hanging in there till and busting by butt in all my classes and hopefully I get good grades this semester.
Exercise #2: Reflecting on Fear.
1. The type of resistance that I would say I am facing right is the uncertainty of the future and the frustration of time and obstacles (...getting good grades in classes, retaking classes, talking to pharmacists and professors for letter of recommendations, improving myself personal and professional..e.tc) that keeps coming up and getting in the way of the steps that I need to take to accomplish my goal.
2. This issues manifest themselves for me through crippling anxiety, fear and utter hopelessness, which have had a great impact on my academic course work and self-esteem. Even though I know and understand very well that people reach their goals at different time or in a different ways there is always that constant inner voice that presents itself in a negative way, which reveals my inner fears and insecurities every time I try to overcome them.
3. I would have to say it is a combination of both stage fright and survival fear, but there is more survival fear than stage fear. I am a very naive person, which is the reason why I am quiet and prone to making a lot of mistakes. Even though I know this about myself every time I study for a test and I know I will do good, I always experience stage fright, because all this thoughts of what if I don't do good even though I have study as much as I can starts to creep into my mind and never goes away, which always affect how I perform on a test. This eventually leads to survival fear, because if I do not perform well on a test (just one freaking test) I start to doubt myself and the uncertainty of my future starts to creep in and brings upon me fear and anxiety and I start questioning if the career path I have chosen is right for me, or if I am ever going to make it into pharmacy school and if I have to change career what would I do, because I really don't know.
4. I really can't say I know the underlying messages expect for probably that's the way the mind deals with obstacles and hardships of life, so as to in still hard work and various ways to accomplish a goal.... probably like a reverse psychology mechanism that the human mind uses to test, motivate, and encourage different methods or ways to accomplish certain goals that we human being put our mind to in order to achieve fulfillment in life. Sure this might be a cruel joke by the mind and explains why a lot of people give up or fail in their pursuit for fulfillment in life, but it's those people that keep going and never give up in face of an obstacle or failure that eventually achieve their goals.
5. The way I moved through my fears is I just stop caring and paying attention to them, when they present themselves I just ignore them and just keep plowing through any obstacles that presents itself and stops me from achieving my goal and it doesn't matter how I plow throw them as long as they fall.

Assignment # 10
First Steps:
The two steps that I wrote that I was going to do to move towards accomplishing my goals were to study for my Vertebrate Embryology class test that I have Thursday after spring and to finish my Anthropology essay paper that is due Tuesday after spring break. So far I have not started neither because I thought I would have time over spring break, but as the saying goes " nothing ever goes as planned". To accomplished this two steps I will start to study tonight and everyday until Thursday for my vertebrate embryology test. For my Anthropology essay that is due on Tuesday I will probably spend all Monday to finish it.
Optional Role Model Interviews :
Since I went home to the suburbs for spring break, I pay a visit to the old pharmacy that I used to work at before so that I could see how my old co-workers/friends were doing and also interview my old pharmacist boss, but she wasn't working on the day that I went to visit. I tried to interview the floater pharmacist that was working, but the pharmacy was really busy and the floater pharmacist told me to come back later, but my schedule did not permit to go back. I will probably call the pharmacy this week and interview the floater pharmacist or my old boss, which ever one is on duty this week.

Assignment #9 : Reaching out Part III
Exercise #1 : Interview 2 of your role models.
First interview : Karon H. Pharm.D
My first interview was with one of the pharmacists that I work with. It was a face to face interview and she is African American. Even though I have known her for a while now, wow... was it awkward asking her about how she became a pharmacist. I asked her what path did she took to become a pharmacists and she said:
At first I was going to go to medical school, but after I did some internship at hospitals and see first hand what doctors do and other aspects of being a doctor I decided not to pursue being a doctor because I could not handle being a doctor and it wasn't for me. But since I have taken all the science class that are towards the medical field and I didn't want it to go to waste or start over in another field. During my internship at hospitals I saw what pharmacists do and some of my friends that were already in pharmacy schools encourage me to look into being a pharmacists, which I did and here I am, I have been a pharmacist for 15 years at Wal-Mart.
I was not able to ask her other questions, because we did not have enough free time to go through the rest of the questions. I probably ask her this coming weekend when I work with her again.
Second Interview : Courtney T. Pharm. D
My second interview was with a floater pharmacist that regularly work at the pharmacy that I work at. She is Vietnamese and graduated from UIC college of pharmacy. I asked her what path did she took to become a pharmacists and she said:
I was born in Vietnam, I was put in jail for a couple of months for trying to escape from Vietnam when I was 8 or 9 years old.... ( And me IDRIS said: WHATTTTT ARE YOU SERIOUS) I am serious because back then Vietnam was a communist country and the government wouldn't let any one leave so people have to find ways to escape to other countries and finally to America. When I came to America me and my family were on welfare for a while and one of the hardest thing for me was learning English and plus when I came to America I used to live down south, which explains my southern accent sometimes. I went to UIC for my undergraduate studies and when I was in school I had to work two jobs and when I got into pharmacy school I used to study all the time because I did not want to be a mediocre pharmacist. I wanted to graduate pharmacy school with honors... ( and me IDRIS said: Did you?) yes I did. It didn't matter if it was friday night, saturday or sunday I always study everyday during pharmacy school.
During the interview the pharmacy got really busy so I was not able to ask her other questions, but I will save that for the next time she work, but I was surprise about the stuff that she told me.
Exercise #2 : Complete your planning Wall.

I have to say after finishing this part of the assignment I realized the importance of having a digital camera and that camera phone are crap. Just thought I vent a little bit.
Exercise #3 : Complete your first step.
One of the first step that I have to do to achieve my goal, is to study for the tests that I have to take for the classes that are required for my goal. I started studying for one of the three tests that I have to take this week. The first test I have to take is for the class Vertebrate Embryology lab, which requires me to memorize 100+ words of different parts of a developing chick embryo. I started studying on Sunday evening and studied with a friend this morning. I am almost done studying for it, but then again only after taking the test would I know if I know each embryo structure. The next test I have is for community psychology, which is on Thursday morning, I am going to start studying for that test tonight then alternate between community psychology and Vertebrate Embryology tomorrow and Wednesday. The last test I have is french, which I will start studying for on Thursday night and Friday morning and hopefully be ready for the test on Friday afternoon.

Assignment # 7
I was not able to get in touch with any of my role models, due to scheduling conflicts and lack of means of communicating with them over the internet, since most of my role models are still stuck in the age of big brick looking cell phones, big floppy disks, computers with Kilobytes RAM and dial up connections. But hopefully I will be able to figure out something by next week.
And for some odd reason I am missing and can't find my in class activity about the activities I love... damn why is it I have been forgetting where I put stuff lately, crap! hopefully Alzheimer is not kicking in yet.

Assignment #4
Exercise #1
Dream: Get a Pharm.D and PhD in research.
Touchstone: Acknowledgment for advancing pharmaceutical medications.
Role Model: People in general.
Target: Develop new medications or therapy for human diseases.
Overall I think that I have the right goal in mind and a reasonable target. I wish I would have know a lot of the things that I know now back when I was in high school so that I would have been able to pursue my goals more vigorously and earlier than now. Even with the goal I have right now I am still not 100% sure if that is the right goal for me, since there are still a lot of stuff I do not know about myself and I am just starting to learn and still learning things about myself. Yea! yea! some might say that you can't learn everything about yourself in a day or even in a lifetime and that it is a gradual process, but stuff am learning about myself now feels like I should have learn or know about a while back. But oh well everything in due time. Role model wise I really don't have a specific one and the person that is closest to a role model to me happens to be a cartoon character. But in reality my role models are every African American, immigrant, or people in general who have nothing and came from nothing to become significant innovators and symbol of determination and hard work in every occupational fields such as medicine, research, social work and so on, when told by people that they could not amount to anything or succeed, considered bottom dwellers of society and constantly battling life's everyday challenges. Those are my role models.
Exercise #2
Your Type is INFJ
Introverted Intuitive Feeling Judging
Strength of the preferences %
67 25 12 33
The Protector
As an INFJ, your primary mode of living is focused internally, where you take things in primarily via intuition. Your secondary mode is external, where you deal with things according to how you feel about them, or how they fit with your personal value system.
INFJs are gentle, caring, complex and highly intuitive individuals. Artistic and creative, they live in a world of hidden meanings and possibilities. Only one percent of the population has an INFJ Personality Type, making it the most rare of all the types.
Quietly forceful, original, and sensitive. Tend to stick to things until they are done. Extremely intuitive about people, and concerned for their feelings. Well-developed value systems which they strictly adhere to. Well-respected for their perseverance in doing the right thing. Likely to be individualistic, rather than leading or following.
I think this test was accurate in describing my personality, expect for the part about quietly forceful, which am not well.... the forceful part that is. Plus that the INFP personality type has a better description of me, but apart from that the test was accurate.

Assignment #3
Exercises 4:
I am dark green. At first glance I seem calm, peaceful and boring, but on closer inspection I am energetic, full of life, active and mysterious like the amazon rain forest. At first glance I seem reserve, dull, shy and quiet like the southern swamps, but I am adventurous, open minded and an observer like the clouds roaming the sky.
Exercise 5:
As I walked into this person room the first thing I notice is the funky smell originating from different parts of the room that came together to form a not so bad and not so pleasant aroma, just a right aroma. There were no pictures or art on the walls just schedules and homework assignments pinned to the wall for reminding. There were different books on the room shelves ranging from religious scriptures, science books, and class required books. There are several clothes in the closet of the person that lives in this room and the clothes have many different colors, but some clothes look worn than others. Upon further inspection this person has no Television in his room, but has a computer and on the screen are folders in no specific orders. After some more observation of the room I suspect that the person that lives in this room is somewhat of a semi-organized person that moves to the beat of his own drum. Could be considered solitary and intellectual person, based on music choices the person is all over the place on the music genre.

Exercise 8:
My ideal environment would be an environment filled with peace and respect among the different people around me. There are no wars or conflicts. Everyone helps each other without the fear of being sued or repercussion from helping someone. Everyone is allowed to be themselves without the fear of being judged or made fun of. People have respect and are willing to understand people with disabilities instead of staring at people with disabilities or pity them and there family. I will be famous for helping people and also for making people around me feel welcome and happy. I would be living in Africa and enjoying all the natural wonders of the continent, because there are no more wars, conflicts or poverty and every ethnic group gets along with each. Also I will be president of one of the countries in Africa and help the country and other countries in Africa develop and become a global power among developed countries.
Exercise 9:
My ideal will start out with a big breakfast that contains whole grain pancakes with sausage, scrambled egg with a fruit bowl and green tea. ohhhh and pure 100% maple syrup. After breakfast I called up my childhood friends and we meet up at my garage and we put on our space suit get into my costume made space ship and take off from earth into the cosmos. We travel to the 8 planets in our solar system (yea I know I said 8, Pluto is no longer consider a planet, I would explain the reason but I will save that for another day). We went to Neptune and fly past all the clouds and into the planet to see what really is under all those clouds, we did the same with Jupiter and Uranus. After exploring our solar system we head out into other solar systems in our galaxy and look for new planets to explore and discover new clues to how the universe was formed and if there are other life forms on other planets. During our trip through the solar systems of our Galaxy, we spot a couple of planets that have different elemental materials never seen before so me and my friends named them after ourselves. After a couple of hours in our galaxy we return back to earth and have some roast beef with turkey sandwich. After lunch we head back into my costume made spaceship and head back in time to meet some of the most influential people in history such MLK, Abraham Lincoln, Gandhi, Adolf Hilter ( yes I said it ), Albert Einstein and so on. After that we came back into the future and reflected on some of the stuff we have seen so far over some snacks at one of my friends place. Then we head back into my costume made ship and head down to the ocean floor to discover some new remnant of dinosaurs and other species that might shed light on the history of earth and how the dinosaurs of the ocean lived. After some deep ocean exploring we came back to my place. Cooked some spaghetti and meat balls and we reflected and discuss the adventure we had today. After dinner my friends went home and I went to bed.

Adjusted fantasy day with with only the indispensable elements in it.
On a more realistic day I live in a city and have a job that lets me move around and is not repetitive. Each morning I wake up and help my wife get the kids ready for school. After the kids are off to school I head to work at an hospital as a clinical pharmacist. I will be working with people to see what kind of health issues that they have and try my best to see what type of medication or can be given to alleviate or cure their health issues, and make sure the medication each patient is getting is in the budget range that the patient can afford. After work come back home eat dinner with my family and help mi kids with their homework or take them out to play. After that me and wife will tuck the kids to bed and we talk about how each of our day was.
Elements That I already Have.
In reality I do have a job and it gives me the opportunity to help people. I live in the city and also try my best to help my little siblings with whatever questions they have and I also hangout with them when I am home.
Elements Of My Adjusted Ideal Day that Are Conspicuously Absent From My Life As It Is Now.
What: A career.
where: My own house or apartment.
Who: A girlfriend or wife.
What Stands Between Me and Having MY Ideal Day Tomorrow?
Ummm... I would have to say time, money, and school. For me to get into my career I have to go to graduate school, which requires time and full attention to complete. With that I will be greatly distracted from a social life or have limited social which will have an impact on how and when I meet my future wife and also hinder my time and communication with my immediate family. When I do graduate and I have a career I will have to work long hours to get money, which will also hinder the time I spend with my family and kids.

Assignment #2
I interview my mother and asked her about my personalities when I was five with the following questions. She said she could not remember much, but she still tried her best.
1. What was I like in the first 5 years of my life?
Mother: You like to go outside a lot and never want to stay in the house. You are always playing outside with friends.
2. What things did I love, what games did I like to play, what did you think was unique about me?
Mother: ..........I do not know a doctor maybe.
This are the reply that I got from my friends about my greatest gifts and strengths.
Friend #1:
I don't have five friends
Friend # 3 :
Idris is: nice, mellow, a good listener, honest, isn't afraid to be the devil's advocate once in awhile, and keeps cool 24/7 - never loses it.
Friend # 4 :
I'd have to say you're one of the nicest people i know, like genuinely nice. some people like to act nice on the outside but you're truly nice-outside and inside. i think you're just nice because that's who you are. it's almost gay haha you look like you're happy all of the time or at least you smile a lot which is great cause i do and it makes me feel good to be around people that do because i think it shows that you're an optimistic person, even though at times its hard to be. you CAN be funny sometimes when you don't try to be funny. sometimes you ask questions that make it look like you're from another country and experiencing culture shock, i think that's funny. i think these are a few good traits that you have among others that make us great friends.
Friend # 5 :
Did not reply back in time of me posting this, maybe the person will reply by tomorrow.
One of the many activities I love to do when I was a child was stare at the stars and heavens wondering about how the universe works and was created. I was not able to go out this week and do any activity that might be related to the in-class activity, because my schedule does not permit. But I did went to the Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum this past summer with some friends and I remember vividly the experience and feeling of the trip to the museum. When we went to the museum we read facts and information about each planet and solar systems and play with the different displays and modules simulating the experience and feel of being on each planet, but two of my favorite display would have to be the mirror that shows the gravitational pull of a black hole on the human body. The other is going into a big giant ball like structure to look and identify the different star constellations. Being at the museum helped me answer some of the questions that I had when I was a little kid about the universe, but also created more questions. The whole experience also brought out my inner child, because I was able to see some of the other planets up close and see what it would be like to be on the planets and view further into the universe.

i would say you're quiet but attentive
and you're really patient
so that makes you a good listener for someone to talk to
and an understanding person
and also you can handle andy when he is being a jackass.
